A while back, I asked for #ThrowbackThursday song suggestions and this was one of them!

"Your Body Is A Wonderland" was the second single off of John Mayer's debut album, Room for Squares.

John Mayer was dating Jennifer Love Hewitt at the time so speculation swirled that the song was about her. John Mayer claims the song was actually written about his first girlfriend when he was 14.

When asked about it, Jennifer Love Hewitt said, "My body is far from a wonderland. My body is more like a pawnshop. There's a lot of interesting things put together, and if you look closely you'd probably be excited, but at first glance, not so much"

The song was originally titled "Strawberry Wonderland".

"Your Body Is a Wonderland" won the Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. The song peaked at #18 on the Billboard Hot 100, #3 on the US Adult Top 40 chart, and #1 on the US Adult Alternative Songs chart.

On the 2002 year-end chart, "Your Body Is A Wonderland" landed at #48.

On the flip side, the song ranked at No. 28 on Blender magazine's list of the "50 Worst Songs Ever". I suppose you can't please everybody.

Fun fact: "Your Body Is A Wonderland" has a toy piano listed as one of the instruments on the liner notes.

I remember hearing this song for the first time in 2002. I would have been 16 and it definitely made me feel some kind of way. I remember thinking the lyrics were definitely provocative but in a sneaky way. He's basically saying what a lot of other kinds of raunchier songs say, just in a nicer way, that doesn't come off as vulgar.
