Throwback Thursday ‘Stuck’ by Stacie Orrico (2003)
"Stuck" by Stacie Orrico was off of her second self-titled album.
Stacie's first album, Genuine, was a contemporary Christian album. It was very successful with six hit singles on Christian music charts. Genuine also set a record at the time for first-week sales by a female artist.
The album, Stacie Orrico, was Stacie's introduction to the pop and R&B world.
"Stuck" was a medium chart hit in the US. It peaked at #52 on the Billboard Hot 100. However, it went to #10 on the Mainstream Top 40 chart and all the way to #1 on the Hot Dance Singles Sales chart.
However, in other parts of the world "Stuck" performed much better. According to Wikipedia, "...No. 3 in Australia, the Netherlands, and New Zealand. It additionally peaked at No. 9 in the United Kingdom and became a top-10 hit in several other European countries."
The music video for "Stuck" was directed by Diane Martel. Diane Martel is a famous choreographer and music video director. She's worked with people like Beyonce, Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, and Christina Aguilera.
The "Stuck" music video shows Stacie in high school having boyfriend trouble. The boyfriend is played by Trevor Wright. Trevor Wright is Stacie's real-life cousin.
Not gonna lie. That's a little icky.
Stacie Orrico released another album in 2006, Beautiful Awakening. She then got married to her long-time boyfriend, Isaiah Johnson in 2016. They had a son a year later.
In 2013-14 Stacie had hinted that she was back in the recording studio working on new music, but no new music or an album has since been released.
We're waiting, Stacie!
