It was released July 1, 2015 and went on to be one of the most prominent songs that Summer.

"Cool for the Summer" was a substantial hit for Demi Lovato. Wikipedia states, "In the United States, 'Cool for the Summer' debuted at number 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated July 18, 2015, with opening sales of 80,000 copies.[34] In its second week on the chart, the song rose to number 28, becoming Lovato's first top-thirty hit since 'Really Don't Care' (2014)."

Ultimately, "Cool for the Summer" peaked at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100, #10 on Adult Top 40 chart as well as the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart, #3 on Mainstream Top 40 chart, and #1 on Dance Club Songs chart!

"Cool for the Summer" was a bit of a growing-up song for Demi Lovato. Critics and fans noted the more adult content of the song and the sexy and suggestive music video! Many compared the subject matter and vibe to Katy Perry's "I Kissed A Girl".

In March of 2022, "Cool for the Summer" had a bit of a resurgence thanks to TikTok.

Since 2015, Demi Lovato has very publicly battled addiction to drugs and alcohol. She nearly died of an overdose in 2018. Demi has also since come out as non-binary.

As of 2022, Demi has been healthy and announced new music and a new tour. Demi has been honest about her struggles and her music is very autobiographical.  On June 10, 2022, she released the lead single, "Skin of My Teeth" (below) from the forthcoming album, Holy Fvck. "Skin of My Teeth" is about Demi's struggle with addiction and surviving by the 'skin of her teeth'.

Holy Fvck will be released August of 2022. Demi also announced the Holy Fvck tour which will start August 13, 2022.
