Everybody cross your fingers! I will hopefully be in attendance at a Blink-182 show this Saturday!!!!

I have tried to see this band two other times and the shows were cancelled! Ugh! Here's hoping everything works out this time!

In keeping the good vibes going, I chose "The Rock Show" for this week's Throwback Thursday song!

It is one of my favorites!

"The Rock Show" is off of Blink-182's fourth studio album, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket. I'm a little embarrassed to admit how long it took me to get that the title of that album was innuendo. Oh, well.

Blink-182, at the time, was made up of members Mark Hoppus, Tom Delonge, and Travis Barker.

According to Wikipedia, Mark Hoppus angrily wrote the song in ten minutes as a response to their manager saying they didn't have a, "Blink-182 good-time summer anthem [thing]."

Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus were quoted, "You want a f&%$ing single? I'll write you the cheesiest, catchiest, throwaway f*^%ing summertime single you've ever heard!"

So Hoppus went home and wrote "The Rock Show" and DeLonge wrote "First Date", which became the most successful singles from the record.

And I don't even feel bad that my favorite song was basically a big F you. I still love it.

The music video premise is simple. The band takes the money given to them to make the music video and basically just gives it away and spends it on really random stuff. This is also the video where I developed a small crush on Mark Hoppus in those black rimmed glasses! Swoon! I dig a dude in glasses. Just sayin.

Also according to Wikipedia, "Although it only peaked at number 71 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 33 on the Mainstream Top 40 chart, it reached number two on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart."

And it's #1 in my heart!
