Throwback Thursday ‘No One’ by Alicia Keys (2007)

Once again, I have no actual rhyme or reason for picking this song. I just like it.

"No One" by Alicia Keys was the lead single off her third album, As I Am. The song was released in September of 2007.

This song was massive, you guys! According to Wikipedia, "The single topped the US Billboard Hot 100 for five consecutive weeks and the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for 10 consecutive weeks while charting inside the top 10 in most major markets. 'No One' was the most listened-to song on US radio of 2008, with 3.08 million listeners. It is one of the best-selling singles of all time, having sold 5.6 million copies by 2008. The song won Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song at the 50th Grammy Awards on February 10, 2008."

"No One" also went to #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart, Pop 100, and Rhythmic chart!

That is a lot of stuff going on for one song!

"No One" was also on the Billboard Hot 100 Year-End chart for 2007 and 2008! In 2007 it was at #76, but in 2008 it landed at #3. That is quite the jump!

The music video was directed by Justin Francis and it went to #1 on BET's 106 & Park, MTV's TRL, and VH1's VSpot Top 20 Countdown!

Remember music video countdown shows? I miss them.

Side note: Growing up, I wanted to be a VJ (video jockey) so bad! I thought for sure I was going to be on MTV. I mean, Carson Daly started in radio! Who knew that wouldn't even be a job when I grew up? I guess being on the radio will have to do.
