Throwback Thursday ‘Mercy’ by Duffy (2008)
"Mercy" was the second single off of Duffy's from her debut album, Rockferry. Duffy's full name is Aimee Ann Duffy.
Duffy is from Bangor, Wales in the United Kingdom. "Mercy" was a big hit in her home country and here in the States.
The song garnered a lot of recognition and awards! According to Wikipedia, "The song was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance".[2][3] The song was also nominated during various award ceremonies including the MTV Europe Music Awards (Most Addictive Track)..."
"Mercy" was a big Billboard chart jumper after it's debut! The same Wikipedia article states, "'Mercy' became Duffy's first single to chart on the American Billboard charts. 'Mercy' debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 87.[39] On the chart date 22 May 2008, the single reached its peak of 27 on the Hot 100, becoming the chart's greatest digital gainer of that week, selling 59,000 downloads."
"Mercy" also peaked at #4 on Billboard's Adult Alternative Songs chart, #16 on the Adult Top 40 chart, and #22 on Mainstream Top 40 chart.
The song eventually went on to be certified platinum in America.
There are two versions of the music video. The UK version is above and the US version is below. Both feature Duffy performing the song while people dance around. Not sure why they had to make two, but OK!
