Throwback Thursday ‘Hold My Hand’ by Hootie and the Blowfish (1994)
"Hold My Hand" by Hootie and the Blowfish was the debut single off of the album, Cracked Rear View.
Now, if you don't recall or weren't alive in 1994, Hootie and the Blowfish and their album Cracked Rear View dominated the world! They were everywhere.
Hootie and the Blowfish is made up of Mark Bryan, Dean Felber, Darius Rucker and Jim Sonefeld. All four members are still in the group, BTW. They did a reunion/anniversary tour last Summer!
"Hold My Hand" was actually written by all four band members back in 1989 and was originally on a self-titled cassette EP released in 1990.
According to Wikipedia, "Hold My Hand" peaked at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and number six on Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks. And ended the year at number 22 in the Billboard Year-end Hot 100 singles chart for 1995."
Honestly, I figured this song went all the way to #1. Weird.
My mom had the cassette tape of Cracked Rear View and it was a staple in the car! Good times!
