I was actually at karaoke a couple weeks ago and saw this song in the song book and I had a total a-ha moment! This has to be a Throwback Thursday song.

Blessid Union of Souls is a band out of Ohio with the founding members Jeff Pence and Eliot Sloan.

"Hey Leonardo (She Likes Me for Me)" by Blessid Union of Souls was off of their third album, Walking Off the Buzz. 

The song is about a man knowing his girlfriend is with him for love and not because of his social or economic status.

The song has many pop culture and celebrity references including Leonardo DiCaprio, Tyson Beckford, Robert Redford, Luciano Pavarotti, Cindy Crawford, the character Dirty Harry, Steve Buscemi in Fargo and Jim Carrey in The Cable Guy.

The song only peaked at #33 on the Billboard Hot 100, but went all the way to #8 on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart.
