The #1 song this week back in 1999 was "Heartbreaker" by Mariah Carey featuring Jay-Z so it is now this week's Throwback Thursday song of the day!

"Heartbreaker" was the lead single from Mariah's seventh album, Rainbow and went on to be Mariah's 14th number one song.

According to Wikpedia, "It extended Carey's lead as the female artist with the most number one singles in the country.[5] The only acts still ahead of Carey were Elvis Presley with seventeen (a record she surpassed in 2008 with Touch My Body becoming her eighteenth number one single) and The Beatles with twenty."

"Heartbreaker" went on to be #35 on Billboard's Top 100 of 1999.

The music video is quite the production! I remember it was featured on MTV's Making The Video back in the day. Mariah plays herself and her own evil twin. She has a fight with herself all Fight Club style.  The music video also features Jerry O'Connell. The video does not feature Jay-Z. Due to contractual obligations he couldn't be in the music video, so animation was used instead.
