Throwback Thursday ‘Good Girls Go Bad’ by Cobra Starship feat. Leighton Meester (2009)

"Good Girls Go Bad" was the first single off of Cobra Starship's third album, Hot Mess.

The song features Leighton Meester on vocals. Leighton Meester was known at the time for playing Blair Waldorf on the TV show, Gossip Girl.

Cobra Starship and Leighton Meester only performed this song together once in November of 2009 at OP Presents Tour at the Nokia Theatre.

The music video features the band running an illegal, underground club with a deli as the front for the operation.

Leighton Meester and friend seem to be girls that want to get into the party, but wait, there's a twist at the end! There are also a couple nods to Gossip Girl in the video. Leighton texts the infamous 'XOXO' that Gossip Girl was known for.

According to Wikipedia, the song had an interesting trip on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, "The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart of May 30, 2009, at number 76, becoming the first entry of both artists in the chart. On June 20, 2009, the song re-entered on chart at number 91. On August 15, 2009, the song entered the top 10 at number 10, becoming the first Top 10 of both artists in the chart. The song eventually peaked at number 7."

"Good Girls Go Bad" was at #43 on Billboard's year end chart for 2009.

Cobra Starship broke up in 2015 and the members have gone their separate ways. Some thought Leighton Meester would use this song to start a music career, but she stuck to acting and married Adam Brody.
