Before One Direction was even a glimmer in our eyes, there was another British boyband trying to make it big across the pond.

Five came out at the end of the 90's and tried to get a piece of the pop music pie from Backstreet Boys and NSync.

"When The Lights Go Out" was Five's second single off of their debut album, 5ive. While it was technically the second single, it is widely regarded as their debut in many countries, including the US.

According to Wikipedia:

"When the Lights Go Out" is the band's only top ten hit in the United States. The song also spent six months in the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, and sold 800,000 copies in the US alone.[1]

The music video has two versions. One for the UK and an American version. The American version, which is the better version, takes place in a bowling alley after hours where they guys hang with some girls and sing and dance and bowl with street shoes on, which is a big no no. Street shoes aren't made to slide so you'd really hurt your knees, not to mention the damage you're doing to the lane! Plus, how are those girls bowling in heels? Ridiculous! Ok, I'm off my soapbox now.

One of the video gals is Bethany Joy Lenz whom you may recognize from Guiding Light  or One Tree Hill.

P.S. Are a couple of the guys wearing snow pants?
