"Everything You Want" by Vertical Horizon was the second single off of their album of the same name.

Vertical Horizon is a band out of Washington D.C.

According to Wikipedia, lead singer, Matt Scannell wrote the song about a girl he was trying to help, "I was in love with this girl, and she was just a broken person. She kept turning to everyone except me for love and acceptance, and I wanted so much to help her. I wanted to be the one to give her everything she wanted, but I couldn't. She just couldn't accept it from me, and it was that pain, that led me to creating the song."

Vertical Horizon went on to have a few more hits, but "Everything You Want" is their most successful song to date. It took 26 weeks for "Everything You Want" to go to #1 on Billboard Hot 100. It also hit #1 on the Adult Top 40 chart.

"Everything You Want" won the Billboard Music Award for Top 40 Track of the Year in 2000.

Vertical Horizon released a new album in February of this year and still tours quite frequently.
