Throwback Thursday ‘Everything Falls Apart’ by Dog’s Eye View (1995)
Truth be told, I heard this song over the weekend and knew it was going to be the Throwback Thursday song ever since, but then when the horrific death of 57th Street Corn happened yesterday, this song just really captured how I was feeling. I mean, just when we had something to distract us and just lighten up our day, it fell apart because some dummy uprooted our beloved corn. This song also just kind of sums up 2020. It seems everything is just falling apart.
Well anyway, "Everything Falls Apart" by Dog's Eye View was the lead single from the band's album, Happy Nowhere.
Lead singer, Peter Stuart, was actually discovered by Adam Duritz from The Counting Crows. He also has said in interviews that he wrote "Everything Falls Apart" in fifteen minutes on a plane while hungover. However inspiration strikes, I guess.
Dog's Eye View was a bit of a one-hit-wonder in the '90s. "Everything Falls Apart" peaked at #66 on the Billboard Hot 100, but went to #1 on the Adult Alternative Songs chart. It also went to #8 on the Mainstream Top 40 chart.
The music video shows a bunch of scenarios happening one way where everything sucks and then rewinding and things going a different way. If only life was that easy. I'd love a redo in a few situations. It also shows that sometimes something bad leads to something good. Here's hoping!
Also, it's strange that prior to hearing this song randomly last weekend, I kind of forgot it even existed. However, I still knew most of the words. Our brains are so weird.
