The Pussycat Dolls was a burlesque group turned musical act with members Nicole Scherzinger, Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, Melody Thornton, and Kimberly Wyatt.

"Beep" was the group's third single off of their debut album, PCD.

"Beep" features a sample of "Evil Woman" by ELO or Electric Light Orchestra.

"Beep" features Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas who also co-wrote the song.

The song was a Top 40 success, but never quite got into the Top 10. "Beep" peaked at #12 on the Mainstream Top 40 chart and #13 on the Billboard Hot 100.

I know it seems strange to delve deep into lyrics from The Pussycat Dolls, but I was struck by these lyrics, especially in today's climate of harassment:

Do you know that no
Don't mean yes, it means no
So just hold up, wait a minute
Let me put my two cents in it
One, just be patient
Don't be rushing
Like you're anxious
And two, you're just too aggressive
Tryin' to get your (Ahh)

Do you know that I know?
And I don't want to go there

PCD laying it down. No means no.

On a personal note, I remember when this song came out my friends and I liked to throw in words in the Beep that totally didn't fit like Bible or glasses or toy truck. Totally changes the song.
