The song was also featured on Now That's What I Call Music! 5.
The music video was a sequel of sorts to "Bye Bye Bye."
The guys are life-size versions of their marionette dolls that were actually for sale (I have all 5). The music video shows their struggle to be purchased from the toy store. All of that is mixed in with some sweet dance moves!
MTV's Making the Video premiered "It's Gonne Be Me" on May 21, 2000. The video made its first appearance on Total Request Live two days later on May 23, 2000.
"It's Gonne Be Me" did very well on the charts. According to Wikipedia, "'It's Gonna Be Me' debuted on the US Billboard Hot 100 at number 42, where it eventually peaked at number one for two consecutive weeks. It was the only NSYNC song to peak at the number one position on the Hot 100. The song was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) one month after its retail release. "It's Gonna Be Me" also peaked at number one in Canada, and charted in the top 10 on the UK Singles Chart, New Zealand, and Sweden."
It landed at #27 on the Billboard Hot 100 Year-End Chart for 2000.
Due to how Justin Timberlake pronounces 'me' in the song, "It's Gonne Be Me" has become a pop-culture meme phenomenon leading up to the month of May!
Justin and all the guys have totally embraced the meme and have fun with it every year.
