Throwback Thursday ‘Heaven’ by DJ Sammy, Yanou and Do (2001)
"Heaven" by DJ Sammy, Yanou, and Do is a cover of a Bryan Adams song that was released back in 1985.
DJ Sammy is Spanish, Yanou is German, and featured vocalist, Do is Dutch. What a multi-cultural song this turned out to be. Oh, and original singer, Bryan Adams, is Canadian, just in case you were wondering.
"Heaven" by DJ Sammy was released in November of 2001, but it didn't really gain steam until the Summer of 2002.
The song peaked at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 in August of 2002. "Heaven" also went to #4 on Billboard's Mainstream Top 40 chart.
According to Wikipedia, " It re-entered the chart on the week of 17 November 2007. On 28 October 2009, over seven years after its release, the song was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales of over 500,000."
Shortly after the success of the up-tempo DJ Sammy version of "Heaven," the Candlelight Mix was released. This version still featured Do on vocals but was stripped down and made into a ballad.
