Throwback Thursday ‘Fighter’ by Christina Aguilera (2003)
"Fighter" by Christina Aguilera was the third single from her third studio album, Stripped. Stripped also had the hit singles "Dirrty", "Beautiful", "Can't Holds Us Down", and "The Voice Within".
Christina Aguilera co-wrote "Fighter" with producer Scott Storch. Both have said the song was inspired by Guns N Roses "November Rain" hence he rock and R&B influences.
According to Wikipedia, "The single peaked at number 20 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). As of September 2014, 'Fighter' has sold 1.184 million copies in the United States."
"Fighter" also peaked at #5 on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart.
The music video was directed by Floria Sigismondi.
Due to the song's theme of evolution and change for the better, Floria said of the music video, "The song is sort of about transformation, so I took that in a natural kind of way, the way nature deals with transformation. It's basically about coming from a very poisoned place to empowerment, a place of strength. I've always had this fear of moths, and I subconsciously wrote this thing with these moths in it, so I guess I have to deal with it. They're furry and they carry dust. I found out in old mythology they are supposed to represent the soul. I think that's very appropriate."
Christina wears many interesting ensembles in the music video. Two of the more interesting costumes include a spider outfit and the aforementioned moths cover a dress.
Hey, Halloween is right around the corner. Maybe you'll find some inspiration in this music video!
