Tasha Tries: ‘Bounce’ at Define Body & Mind
Define Body & Mind is a new gym in town that specializes in a few unique fitness classes. They are located in The Wedge at 69th and Western.
They offer Barre, Cycle, Yoga, Hammock, and Bounce. Another cool thing about Define is that they offer child care during some of their classes! Pretty cool, huh!
I decided to give Bounce a try. Bounce is a fitness class that uses mini trampolines and some weights. When I go to my gym I usually do Zumba, Kickboxing, and a weights class.
Bounce was so different from all of that. I thought since I have decent rhythm and can usually keep up with learning steps, I'd be alright. It's a whole new ball game.
Trying to maintain a small bounce and stay on beat was so hard. Controlling a bounce is tough. You're basically in a squat the whole time and then trying to maneuver your arms as well. It was tough.
Then, I decided I hadn't put myself through enough so I tried hammock. I can kind of understand how it would be good for stretching and relaxing, but I did not like it. Hammock is definitely not my thing.
I was afraid the whole time that I was going to fall. I just didn't like being upside down. To each their own, I guess.
It was fun to try something new. Sometimes going to the gym can get very monotonous so Bounce was just the challenge I needed.
I am happy to say that I am going back to Define to give Bounce another try and this time for the whole 45 minutes! Wish me luck!
