Breaking Down The Next Batch Of Boy Bands
Backstreet Boys have scored another radio hit with "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" proving that boy bands are still in demand. Backstreet Boys, N Sync, 98 Degrees, those were the boy bands of my youth and then came along The Wanted and One Direction. One Direction inevitably won that boy band battle and sort of redefined boy bands because they didn't dance or wear matching outfits. Rebels.
But every generation needs a new batch of guys to drool over and cover your bedroom walls with posters.
So, who are these new boy bands trying to take over? I consider myself a boy band aficionado so let me break it down for you.
PRETTYMUCH is made up of Canadian and American members. They were put together by Simon Cowell and he knows something about putting groups together. He was behind One Direction, Fifth Harmony, and Little Mix. PRETTYMUCH is made up of members Brandon Arreaga, Edwin Honoret, Austin Porter, Nick Mara, and Zion Kuwonu. My favorite song by them is "Would You Mind," but their latest single is "Summer on You" which was written by Ed Sheeran. They just performed it on The Late Late Show with James Corden.
Next up is In Real Life. They were put together on the TV show, Boy Band. The judges were Timbaland, Nick Carter, and Emma Bunton. I hate to admit it, but I actually watched the show. Hey, it was on in the Summer, there wasn't much else to watch. In Real Life is made up of members Brady Tutton, Chance Perez, Drew Ramos, Sergio Calderon, and Michael Conor. You may have heard their single, "Tattoo (How Bout You)."
Why Don't We is an American boyband made up of members Jonah Marais, Corbyn Besson, Daniel Seavey, Jack Avery, and Zach Herron. Daniel Seavey might look familiar because he was on American Idol. Check out their single, "Talk."
And I couldn't do a post about new boy bands without including BTS. BTS is a Korean boy band that has a crazy passionate online fan base. We get a lot of Tweets and Messages to play more BTS all the time. Members are Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. While I think they are very talented dancers and performers, I just think seven members is too many. I guess I'm just old school like that. Boy bands minimum should have 3 members and maximum 5 members.
Who do you like best?
