Throwback Thursday ‘Video’ by India Arie (2001)

March is Women's History Month and Endometriosis Awareness Month! So, as far as I'm concerned, March is all about the ladies! Well, except for St. Patrick's Day. We'll give him one day.

Anyway, I thought the perfect song to celebrate women and our awesomeness is "Video" by India Arie.

"Video" was the first single from India Arie's album, Acoustic Soul.

According to Wikipedia, "In 2002, 'Video was nominated for four Grammy Awards: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song."

The song is all about body positivity, confidence, self-worth, and just being comfortable with yourself.

As women, sometimes we feel like we're not doing all the things a successful, beautiful woman should do, but girl, you do you, boo! We are all on our own journey and we need to stop comparing ourselves to these crazy ideals.

"Video" is India Arie's most successful song in the US. It peaked at #47 on the Billboard Hot 100, but it went to #9 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart and #14 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

India Arie is originally from Denver, Colorado. She has had a very long and successful career, even if you haven't really heard of her. She has a whopping 23 Grammy nominations and four wins! And she continues to put out music.

Other than "Video", my favorite song by India Arie is "Ready For Love". It. Is. So. Good.
