Throwback Thursday ‘The Best’ by Tina Turner (1989)

I asked for some input on my social media for Throwback Thursday songs in June. I wanted them all to be Pride-themed, but there are only four Thursdays in June so it was hard to whittle it down. Also, please note that I have already done "Born This Way" and "Same Love" for previous Pride Throwbacks so stop yelling at me.

Can you believe this is already the last Thursday in June? And I saved 'the best' for last. Do you see what I did there?

Did you know Tina Turner's "The Best" is a cover? Bonnie Tyler actually did the song first in 1988.

Unfortunately for Bonnie, Tina's version was way more popular and successful. Tina Turner's "The Best" went to #15 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Tina was 50 years old when her version of "The Best" was released. The girl looks good in the video.

You might be wondering why this song is part of my pride-themed Thursdays. Well, "The Best" had a bit of a resurgence thanks to its use in the TV show, Schitt's Creek. It was a very big part of Patrick and David's love story!

Patrick first sings an acoustic version to David, then in a later episode, David's lip-syncs the song to Patrick. Oh my god, you guys. It's so good. (See both versions below.)

Then, spoiler alert, the song is even featured during their wedding! I'm not crying, you're crying.
