The best part of Halloween is the candy. I don't think it's really debatable unless you really like dressing up or really like getting hammered while dressed up. A food group that I never buy on a regular basis is suddenly widely available and occasionally at discount.

I think it is also not debatable that there is good Halloween candy and bad Halloween candy. Excluding stupid things like apples, pencils, and toothbrushes, there is candy that is not good and is a wonder as to why it even exists to begin with.

On that note, here are the five best Halloween candies, based on nothing but my own personal opinion, experience, expertise as a fat kid, and expertise as a fat adult. These picks are based on the "fun size" version, not the microscopic sizes or the various shapes.

5 - Hershey Bar with Almonds

This is the one where the fat adult in me wins out. As a grown up I have found an affinity for almonds. I just like them. Add in the staple of Hershey's chocolate and you have a great combo.

4 - Twix (Caramel)

I parenthetically added the caramel part, but of course if you are talking about Twix it's assumed you mean caramel, which sits on top of a weird cookie you may not eat by itself, but when matched with the caramel and wrapped in chocolate it is a smash hit.

3 - Snickers

Snickers is a micro meal in an of itself. It's also the perfect shape and size for a fun size without feeling like you're getting scammed. But it's also not the first one you grab.

2 - Kit Kat

Kit Kat is actually my favorite candy bar of all time. It really is just heaven, especially the Big Kat.

1 - Reese's Peanut Butter Cup

Reese's is number one on my list, not because chocolate and peanut butter are fantastic, but because you get half of a full size candy bar! The standard package of two is just halved and you get half. It's the best value in Halloween candy, even though they have done more of the goofy shapes that are kinda lame and feel like less Reese's goodness, the OG cups are still out there. Buy those!
