Best Place to Watch Eclipse was Surrounded by Old Cars in Nebraska
There were lots of eclipse watching parties around the country Monday (August 21). People gathered at libraries, schools and in backyards. But, the best place to experience the moon's shadow was probably at a monument to a monument in the Nebraska panhandle.
Near Alliance, Nebraska artist Jim Reinders used 39 old cars to recreate England's Stonehenge in honor his father. Called Carhenge, it was completed in 1987 and has become a popular tourist attraction.
For the total solar eclipse, which passed right over Alliance, the day was a once in a lifetime party for thousands of people, including creator Reinders. Revelers came from all over the world to experience the eclipse at a place that is said to have been build with "a lot of blood, sweat, and beers.”
ABC News was even there to capture the event, watch in the video above.
