With more rain in the forecast and the rivers already running high, the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for much of southeastern South Dakota and southwestern Minnesota, including Sioux Falls. The watch is in effect from Thursday through Saturday morning (June 20-22, 2024).

Be on the lookout for flooded roads and make sure your sump pump is ready.

"Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain," - National Weather Service
