The Snowiest Winters Ever in Sioux Falls History
Winter in Sioux Falls ain't no joke. Don't let a mild season fool ya either. Yes, we can have relatively mild winters. But, before too long, the worst of Jack Frost settles on the city.
How Much Snow Does Sioux Falls Get Each Year?
Sioux Falls averages around 44 inches of snow a year. That is quite a bit of the fluffy stuff. But, spread out over a few months, it's more annoying than terrible.
But there have been some crazy extremes.
Sioux Falls' snowiest winter saw 94.7 inches of snow blanket the town. That was the winter of 1968-69. Earlier in the 1960s, we had the second snowiest winter with just under 80 inches of snow.
