Winter in Sioux Falls can be both as bad as you've heard and not quite that bad. Yes, we have cold and snow. Sometimes a lot. But, with modern technology, clothing, and weather info, that cold and snow can go from horrible to a pain in the backside.

But, where do you get that weather information? It seems like there are thousands of websites and apps that claim to give you the weather news you need. I've found that at best, these places don't focus on Sioux Falls enough or give questionable forecasts.

So, if you're new to the South Dakota tundra, or just want to know where to go for the latest winter weather info for Sioux Falls, here's a handy list:

Where to find Sioux Falls Snow Alert and Street Information

In Sioux Falls, when it snows more than two inches, a 'Snow Alert' is declared. That means you cannot park on a snow route. You'll know you are on a snow route by the little signs that are along the streets designated as snow routes. During a snow alert, cars parked on snow routes will be ticketed and towed.
