Halloween in South Dakota can be very exciting. Not just because of the candy, costumes, and parties. But also because the weather on Halloween is like gambling. Will my awesome costume be hidden under a puffy coat while I trick or treat in a snowstorm? Or will my makeup melt off because the end of October is dressed up as a day in July?

Landing at the end of October means that Halloween is right smack in the middle of a transition season. The weather is cooling off for winter, but that process involves a lot of starts and stops. One day the cold bites, the next a warm day soothes.
