A popular swimming spot is off-limits, after tests showed unhealthy levels of E.coli in the water.

Lake Alvin, outside Harrisburg, is closed for swimming until further notice. The lake is still open to fishing.

Right now, Lake Alvin is not safe for swimming and the beach will be posted as closed, advises park management. This is a temporary closure and testing will continue to ensure healthy levels return. The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks will keep park-goers and visitors posted once it reopens.
