‘Know Your Rights’ Voting Rights Training in Sioux Falls
The South Dakota American Civil Liberties Union will be holding a Know Your Rights presentation to walk you through what you need to know to vote in South Dakota.
The event will be at the downtown Sioux Falls Public Library in Meeting Room A, on Tuesday October 11 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. They will talk about voter eligibility, registration deadlines, the forms of ID needed and more.
In the meantime, the ACLU SD has a few recommendations to be prepared to vote, get your vote counted, and make sure your voice is heard:
- Check your voter registration status - The Deadline to be registered in South Dakota is October 24, 2016.
- Find your polling place - Poles in South Dakota will be open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on election day.
- Consider voting early or absentee if possible. If you plan to vote at the polls, go early in the day to avoid the last-minute rush.
- Make sure your ID is valid and up to date.
- If anyone challenges you about voting, don't get mad - get help.
