Sioux Falls Humane Society Making Plans For A New Dog Park
The Sioux Falls Humane Society is a place of love. Love for abandoned, neglected, homeless animals is what they provide 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Now thanks to a surprise donation they are dreaming of adding something that dogs and their caretakers would absolutely love - -a dog park!
According to Pigeon 605, this wouldn't be just any dog park, it would have separate areas for large and small dogs as well as an agility course that all the dogs could use.
The unexpected gift to the Sioux Falls Humane Society comes from Pheasantland Industries which is associated with the South Dakota Department of Corrections. Their gift was agility equipment for the dogs waiting for forever homes.
The agility course is set up in a play yard right now, but executive director James Oppenheimer is now hoping to find donors to renovate the play yard into a complete dog park.
The donations needed would be right around $500 thousand and they are looking for a donor or donors who would want to "put their name on this new project".
The Humane Society is having a great year in terms of adoptions, They have already reached 1,642 and their adoption goal this year is 4,000. In 2023 adoptions reached a record 3,807 and they have high hopes of going well beyond that.
One way that people can help right now is with dog and cat food donations, as those supplies are always going fast.
