Over the weekend, Davenport's downtown was in the spotlight of the nation after an apartment building suffered a partial collapse near Fourth Street and Main Street.

According to previous residents, many complaints were filed about structural issues that were subsequently ignored by the building's management. One resident speaking out has gone viral on TikTok for showing the reason she moved out of the property just two weeks before its collapse.

Aurea Monet lived in the apartment known as "The Davenport" at 324 Main Street, but moved once she felt the building was unsafe and that management's priorities didn't lie with the safety of their tenants.

She shared photos with us of the final straw - a crack in the exterior wall of her apartment, which was able to be seen on the inside of the apartment as well as on the wall outside.

After asking about the crack and not getting an answer back, she looked on the outside of the building to see the same crack went through the brick as well.

In a follow-up video, Aurea explained that she sent an email to the management that she would be leaving her lease early due to legal counsel advising she leave the apartment.

She received an email back from the management that they wouldn't pursue legal action, but there are no structural issues with the building.
