I first showed you my 'before' picture back in 2015. Now, in the year 2021, all of this is still valid.

My teeth didn't always look like they do in the above picture.

I had a dentist appointment a couple of weeks ago and I've gotten to know my hygienist pretty well over the years and I realized she's never seen my teeth before braces. I just so happened to have the photo from my orthodontist saved in my phone, (because I'm a nerd like that) so I showed her. She was shocked. Believe it or not, the same teeth are in the before and after photo.

People think I'm odd because I have a bit of an obsession with teeth. I look at people's teeth first thing. I worry about my teeth falling out. I have nightmares about it. I know people say dreams about teeth falling out usually mean something else, but I literally am afraid of my teeth falling out.

All of this stems back to my childhood. I had terrible teeth. My baby teeth were torture to lose. Sometimes my baby teeth never even got loose. Just terrible. I will admit, dental hygiene wasn't a priority in our household. I didn't see a dentist until I had braces, probably would have saved me some trouble.

Anyway, my teeth were coming in every which way, but still, I wasn't brought to a professional until my upper canine teeth started coming in pointing at each other in my gums. Then my parents finally said, "OK, maybe we should get this looked at."

Even though having braces was painful, I am so grateful I had them. Most people have braces for two years or so. I think I had my mine for at least four years. Still, totally worth it.

So if you dare, scroll down and see my before pictures. Yikes for so many reasons. Mainly my teeth, but also the hair. Keep in mind, I was in 8th grade. Does anybody look good in 8th grade?
