Germanfest is September 8 from 1 to 10 PM at Fawick Park in downtown Sioux Falls. This year there are a few changes to the festival. First of all, it is not taking place at Falls Park West. It is now at Fawick Park. Second of all, I will be helping host the shindig from 5 until 8 PM. Come say, "Hallo." (That's German for Hello.)

I'm like 98% German according to everyone in my family so I'm sure all my German ancestors are very proud!

Almost a year ago, I was in Germany, so it will be really cool to be a part of Germanfest this year!

Germanfest is hosted by Sister Cities Association of Sioux Falls. Shoutout to our sister city of Potsdam Germany, State of Brandenburg. Many people believe Germanfest is our way of celebrating Oktoberfest, but that is not true. Germanfest is to celebrate all of Germany and our lasting relationship with our sister city. Germanfest helps raise money to build cultural relationships and raise money for scholarships.

Vendors this year include Family Treats, Raclette Corner, Gold Star Kettle Corn, M I Nutts Co., SF Sister Cities, Beal Distributing, Holiday Inn, Orange Creek Farms, The Meat Wagon, Elite Catering, Pietz Kuchen Kitchen, and Marco's.

Entertainment at Germanfest includes the famous Dachshund Dog Races at 4:30. There will be live music from Brian Brueggen & the Mississippi Valley Dutchmen and Jim Kucera Band. There will also be a kids area and puppet shows.

I can't wait to get my hands on a bratwurst and some kuchen! And I suppose a beer or two sounds good too!

Seeya there!
