Bruno Mars and Anderson. Paak are Silk Sonic
It's been a hot minute since we've heard from Bruno Mars. Apparently, that was because he was working on new music with Anderson. Paak!
Together they are calling themselves Silk Sonic and they just released their first single, "Leave The Door Open". Their collaborative album doesn't have a set release date yet, but it does have a title, An Evening with Silk Sonic.
Anderson and Bruno's voices and styles complement each other nicely.
The style is still very Bruno. It has a little bit of a throwback vibe, yet still very current. In true Bruno fashion, the song has a sexy time vibe, and leaving the door open is definitely an invitation that I think a lot of people would accept.
I mean, just take a peek at some of these lyrics!
Ooh, you're so sweet (So sweet)
So tight (So tight)
I won't bite (Uh-huh)
Unless you like (Unless you like)
If you smoke (What you smoke?)
I got the haze (Purple haze)
And if you're hungry, girl I got filets (Woohoo)
Ooh baby, don't keep me (Waiting)
There's so much love we could be making (Shamon)
I'm talking kissing
Rose pedals in the bathtub, girl lets jump in
I ain't playin no games, every word
That I say is coming straight from the heart, uh
(If you tryna lay in these arms)
Lay in these arms
I'ma leave the door open
(I'ma leave the door open)
I'ma leave the door open, girl
(I'ma leave the door open, hopin')
Sticking with Bruno's pattern of each album seemingly following the sound and visible styling of a certain decade, this is definitely the next chapter. His last album, 24K Magic, had the late 80s, early 90s vibe. Now we're kind of in the 60s and 70s easy listening kind of mood. Cheesy, but in a good way.
I could do without Bruno's facial hair, but he still looks good. I'm digging the aesthetic!
Fun fact: Anderson. Paak opened for Bruno Mars on his 24K Magic Tour!
Bruno has also teamed up with Lacoste for a new clothing line. It's called Lacoste X Ricky Regal. In an official e-mail from Bruno Mars, because I'm that person that gets e-mails from Bruno Mars, it states, "Get ready for Ricky Regal by Bruno Mars. The collection bridges Bruno's enigmatic personality and distinct style with Lacoste's iconic blend of sport and luxury."
It will be available on March 8th.
