Hi, Ben here, and I’m on a mission to not be fat when I‘m 42. To do that I’ve partnered with Profile by Sanford and I want to take you with me on my journey.

Hey everyone! I'm back with another edition of 'Things that I've noticed that have changed since I've been on Profile.' This time it's shopping. For groceries specifically.

While I'm in the Reduce/Reboot phase of Profile; my diet consists of the Profile meal replacements, a little bit of meat (protein) and lots of vegetables. As I've integrated this into my day-to-day life and it's become the norm, as opposed to a thing I'm trying out, I've noted that grocery shopping has become a lot simpler.

Sure my family still eats spaghetti and pancakes sometimes. But, more and more even their dinners are veggie heavy and close to what I'm eating. As this new healthy life takes over our home we're spending less time going up and down the aisles and more time reading labels and buying fresh.

I've long heard people say that one should shop along the outer rim of the grocery store. And that is true. We hit the veggies and fruit (we've found that if we provide apples, oranges and the like, the kids will eat them up). Then along the meat area, then to the cheese and maybe some milk for the kids. And that's about it. A number of times my wife and I make that loop and stand with our cart looking at each other saying "I think that's all we need, we're done."

Another thing that Profile has taught me is planning, and that has also made shopping so simple. I know I'm going to eat this, this, and this. So I go into the store knowing that I'm going to get this, this and, this. I know I'm not eating junk anymore, so I can skip all those parts of the store. With a planed menu I know what's happening on Wednesday, know what I need to get, and don't have to think about food again until it's time to eat.

Removing that anxiety, as I've said many times, goes a long way to reprogramming my brain to see food for what it is: energy for my body. It's not a way to deal with the stress of life. It's not a substitute for real, and actually helpful, ways to deal with things.

It's a new way of life, a better way of life, thanks to Profile.
