Happy First Birthday to my dresser! I had so much fun bringing you into the world and learned a lot. Below is the original story of how I put together a dresser.

Ok, so that title might be a little misleading. I 'helped' put together a dresser.

During the stricter stay at home orders, I looked around my apartment and realized I hate everything I own. Maybe not hate, but everything I have is an old hand-me-down so I decided to update a few things. I wanted to get a new dresser. Of course, the one I liked while shopping online was a do-it-yourself project. I almost didn't go through with it and was just going to buy one that could be delivered as is, but I was promised that I would have help. My boyfriend, Tim, said he would help put it together. Then he found out he was going to go to Lake Charles, LA for up to two months to help with hurricane relief, but he still promised it would get done before he left.

So, this weekend, we did it! And I even helped! And we didn't fight or anything!

Check out the process below.

Putting A Dresser Together

A few follow-ups:

  • The second half of building the dresser was done while drinking so I'm not sure if that helped or hindered.
  • No offense to my dad, but usually when we would attempt things like this when I was younger there was usually more yelling and tears. No tears this time!
  • I would like to point out that I'm not totally inept. I did put together a bookshelf completely by myself once. However, I knew after doing that, that I would need help with a dresser. I know my limits.
  • I would also like to point out that I've really discovered I'm a visual/hands-on learner. When Tim showed me in person, everything totally made sense, however, looking at the drawings in the directions made absolutely no sense to me at all.

Thanks for coming to my dresser making Ted Talk.
