I always felt like when I traveled to larger far away cities that everything seems like it is really expensive. Turns out I was mostly right.

Something called the Bureau of Economic Analysis (which is a real government thing) spent two years studying what $100 can buy you in each state of the country. And there is good news for us in the 605.

$100 is worth $113.64. That was the fourth best in the country behind Mississippi, Arkansas, and Alabama.

What does this mean? Simply put, stuff generally costs less here than it does in the rest of the country. That doesn't mean we're swimming in dough, obviously.
