A witness at an apartment building pool discovered two boys unresponsive in a swimming pool and pulled them from the still water.

According to Sergeant Nick Cook with the Sioux Falls Police Department, both Paramedics Plus and Sioux Falls Fire rescue responded to the drowning incident on  Friday November 11 at 5:30 PM at the Timberland Village Apartments in the 3400 block of East 11th Street:

Two male juvenile victims were located and tended to by medical personnel.  The investigation into the incident revealed the 9 year old and 12 year old victims had been playing in the indoor pool of the apartment complex with friends when they went underwater.  Both victims were found to be unresponsive and pulled from the water by a nearby witness and provided medical care.  Both juveniles were transported to a local hospital where the 9 year old is listed in stable condition and the 12 year old is in critical condition.

Police say there are no charges pending as the incident has been ruled an accident.
