Who doesn't enjoy a good nap! Perhaps you're planning one later today or sometime this weekend?

Don't doze off until you read this. The key to a great nap is drinking coffee right before.

I know it doesn't make a lick of sense. You'd think coffee and a nap would be totally incompatible, two things that could never coexist. Evidently that is not the case.

Studies in both Japan and England have confirmed that the key to a great nap is drinking a cup of coffee before you lie down.

Researchers found that if you drink a cup of coffee, then take a 20-minute nap, you'll sleep better and be far more alert when you wake up.

The reason why is when you're tired, it's because of a molecule called adenosine. The combination of sleep and caffeine clear out adenosine, but here's the deal, it takes them both a little time to get rid of it. So if you nap during that time, you're doing double duty clearing out adenosine from your body. The result, you wake up feeling very refreshed.

It's very important however, that you stick to just a 20-minute nap. Sleep longer than 20 minutes and you'll go into the deeper stages of sleep, which will counteract all the positive effects of drinking coffee.

What's that, you're not much of a coffee drinker, and you still want to have a great nap? My advice then is to just find a channel on TV with some golf. That always seems to knock me out in a couple of minutes.
