Here’s Where to Get Taylor Swift’s New Album at Midnight in South Dakota

2025 is shaping up to be the Year of Taylor. From proposals to engagement to new album releases, this year is putting Taylor Swift back in the center of American popular culture.

The first big Swifty news came in August. That's when Taylor announced the name of her 12th album in an Instagram clip from her fiancé Travis Kelce's podcast, New Heights. That's when we learned that the new album will be called The Life of a Showgirl.

When Does Taylor Swift’s New Album Release?

Taylor Swift's new album, The Life of a Showgirl, will be released at 12:01 AM on Oct. 3, 2025. Word is that it will be a return to pop-music sounds, possibly working with producers Max Martin and Shellback.

Then, Target, the big-box retailer, announced that it will stay open late on Thursday, October 2, for the midnight release of the new TS album on October 3. Target says it will have several exclusive album versions and other merch ready for the Swiftie nation to scoop up.

Which South Dakota Target Stores Are Open at Midnight?

There are five Target stores in four towns in South Dakota right now: Aberdeen, Rapid City, Watertown, and two in Sioux Falls. According to Target's website, Targets in all those cities will be open for the midnight Taylor Swift release. NOTE: Only the west-side Target store in Sioux Falls is listed as being open (The east-side store is NOT on the list as of September 10).

South Dakota Target Stores open for the Taylor Swift midnight release:

• Aberdeen: 3316 7th Ave SE, Aberdeen, SD 57401

• Rapid City: 1415 Eglin St, Rapid City, SD 57701

• Watertown: 2000 9th Ave SE, Watertown, SD 57201

• Sioux Falls: 3600 S Louise Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57106

The Target in Sioux City, IA, will also be taking part (5775 Sunnybrook Dr, Sioux City, IA 51106).

Exclusive Taylor Swift Editions at Target

Along with different versions available on Taylor's website, there are three Target-exclusive CDs. The Target editions will include a lyric booklet and exclusive posters.

As far as what we know about what's on the album, on Travis' podcast, she said that there will be just 12 songs on this collection.

"I wanted to do an album that was so focused on quality and on the theme and everything fitting together like a perfect puzzle that these 12 songs for my 12th album, I feel like we achieved that and I'm really happy about that," she said.
