Snowfall Varies in Sioux Falls, Blustery During Day
Meteorologist Brad Teameyer of the National Weather Service says parts of Sioux Falls received varied amount of snow overnight.
"Officially here at the Sioux Falls airport, we got a bit over five inches of snow. Areas in the south and eastern portions of the city may have seen a little bit more---probably around six to seven inches."
Teameyer says the winds will keep the area cold during the day.
"Strong north northwest winds will be lasting throughout the day. We're not going to see temperatures dramatically rise during the day. Right now, we are looking at high temperatures in the mid to upper 20's. The winds will be strong and producing wind chills of single digits to lower teens during the day."
At the Sioux Falls Street Department, Rich Steffen says his crews have been clearing off the emergency routes during the overnight hours.
"We got a little wind to deal with creating some drifting in the outskirts of the city. Other then that, the snow has been pretty much done since around 2:30 A.M. We just had the blowing to deal with as the crews are scraping the streets."
