Sioux Falls Police Captain Blaine Larsen says the murder suspect knew the victim: 28-year-old Jamie Lee Wounded Arrow who's body was discovered in an apartment Friday night when police responded to a call for a welfare check.

"We were able to see on some of this video that he entered the victim's apartment in the early morning hours of January 1st. It appears he was allowed in. I think the victim and Joshua Rayvon LeClaire were at least acquainted. There was no forced entry."

At this time, Larsen does not believe the homicide is a hate crime.

"We are not prepared to really address that at this point in time. I know there are a lot of concerns that this was a hate crime. Nothing we have seen in our investigation---looking at social media or contacts concerns that at this point in time. We may learn more. There are a lot interviews still set to be done."

Larson says the suspect 25-year-old Joshua Rayvon LeClaire was arrested for violating his parole and will formally be charged with murder late Monday.

Larson says it's believed the victim was killed with a knife.
