Remembering Aretha

When you find out Aretha Franklin is playing a free concert, you go.

Back in 2015, Saturday in the Park, in Sioux City, announced that Aretha Franklin would be the headliner for the annual festival.

Say what? I can see and hear Aretha Franklin for free?!?! Count me in!

I went and it was so cool. She sang everything you wanted to hear and looked fabulous doing it. She did "Natural Woman," "Think," and obviously "Respect."

She also did an impromptu/adlib blues number. I have to admit, I thought it went on a little long, but hey, she's Aretha Franklin, she can do what she wants.

With the news today that she had passed away, I feel so fortunate that I got to be in the same place with the Queen of Soul!
