Make ‘Party in the USA’ the New National Anthem + ‘Fixer Upper’ to End: Pop Bits
A brand new idea for how to calm the turbulence rattling the country, plus the end of a beloved TV program and more, in today's Pop Bits:
It was a strange weekend in America, what with the president picking fights with athletes and the national anthem becoming a point of controversy. Prior to closing her set at the iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas with "Party in the USA," Miley Cyrus gave a little speech about just how she feels about what's going on in this country, concluding with:
It's not a 'Party in the U.S.A.' if we don't have equality, unity, justice, compassion, kindness, opportunity, health care, education, non-violence. So f*** yeah, it will be a 'Party in the U.S.A.' We'll see it. And if we all f***ing come together we'll f***ing make sure that it is because I'm not giving up. We can't stop.

After a killer performance, fans are calling for "Party in the USA" to become the new national anthem. Can't wait to argue this issue on Facebook during the 2020 campaign!
The stars of the beloved HGTV smash Fixer Upper, Chip and Joanna Gaines, announced that they'll be closing up shop after this season because they want to spend more time with their kids or something. So if you have stock in the reclaimed wood industry, it's time to sell NOW.
Confused rapper B.o.B has started a GoFundMe page called "Show Bob the Curve" to "launch one, if not multiple, satellites into space" to determine whether the earth is, in fact, round. Which, yeah, is really stupid. But it did lead to some marvelous comments:
- "Why not just travel to the edge of the Earth? It would be a lot cheaper."
- "I'd chip in for you to take some science classes"
- "Bro. I am totally with you on this. But we cannot trust anything but our senses. The technology you're using will make it appear that the earth is round because of the curvature of the lenses mounted on your satellite. The only way to find out if the earth is flat is by going to outer space yourself and ejecting yourself from the spacecraft..."
LeBron James: 'The people run this country. Not one individual.'
You know exactly who he's talking about.
There are good ways to handle a changing cast on TV and then there's this way. CBS managed to make that rare move that upset everybody.
