What do you do for Valentine's Day weekend when the temperature isn't going to be above zero?

I'm lucky enough to have a Valentine this year, so I got asked a lot what we were doing to celebrate. My friends that have been with their significant other for a long time were curious what the 'new' couple would be doing. We really went all out, you guys.

We stayed in and played card games.

When it is going to be frigid temps outside, I don't mind staying inside.

I got a nice homemade card, a new meat thermometer, coffee, and gourmet popcorn. Don't ask. They're all sort of inside meaning sort of gifts.

Tim taught me how to play Rack-O and I taught him SkipBo! Things got real competitive!

We also tried a new recipe! Shakshuka! Shakshuka is a North African dish made up primarily of tomatoes and veggies. Then you poach eggs in the sauce/stew. It's great for breakfast but is definitely hearty enough for a dinner. We used this recipe, but substituted zucchini and yellow squash for the eggplant and added onion and fresh tomato as well! It was sooooo good and really easy! Don't be afraid.

And no Valentine's Weekend is complete without some girl time! Galentine's Day! We had the movie theatre to ourselves for an anniversary showing of Pretty in Pink!

  1. I was the sub for my friend's indoor volleyball team. We lost.
  2. I did a butt-ton of laundry.
  3. Tim's present from me, a brand new pickleball paddle.
  4. We started Wanda Vision and are very intrigued.
  5. Had a belated birthday lunch with a friend and got another free birthday dessert!
