McGovern Middle School Student Brings BB Gun to School

A Sioux Falls middle school student is in trouble after brining a BB gun to school.

School employees found a BB gun belonging to a 12-year-old McGovern Middle School student on Thursday (September 22).

The BB gun was discovered inside a backpack left on the school's football field. Once school employees found the backpack, they opened it, trying to figure out who the owner was.

The 12-year-old was immediately turned over to his parents at the time of the incident and is now facing criminal charges for possessing a weapon on school property.

Authorities say the student didn't threaten anyone with the gun.
