In its eighth year, the Money Matters event at Active Generations will be an excellent learning opportunity for those who want to preserve their nest egg.

Between three hundred and four hundred people are expected to take part during this day-long exhibition on Thursday (April 6). Gary Popkes of Frontier Bank has a general description of what’s available.

“It’s mainly an educational forum where people can come learn about what they need to know and what’s going to impact them in their retirement. We cover a wide variety of topics. People seem to like it and hopefully they are learning from it.”

One of the popular sections will be on fraud and Popkes says some experts will get attendees up to speed on how to be cautious.

“A couple detectives from the Sioux Falls Fraud Unit and some other specialists from Pierre that work from the different government agencies will provide that information. It will help people be aware of what’s out there and how to protect themselves from those different scams and phishing schemes.”

Popkes will be assisting with an estate planning seminar and leading another explaining how people can structure their retirement options. The event at Active Generations is sponsored in part by AARP South Dakota and Frontier Bank plus it is free to attend.
