KCRG reports that the accident happened on Wednesday when the team bus carrying 33 people rolled into a ditch on Highway 4 west of Twin Lakes, in Calhoun County, according to the Iowa State Patrol. The 74-year-old bus driver reportedly went off the road, overcorrected, and then rolled the bus into the ditch. The team was traveling to a game in Arkansas.

One Player Died in The Crash

According to KCRG, two players were ejected and trapped underneath the bus. Student-athletes in a van traveling behind the bus reportedly gave CPR to 19-year-old Carter Johnson following the crash, however, he was later pronounced dead at the scene. The 32 remaining players also suffered injuries and were hospitalized.
