Colorado's Famous Rock Rest Lodge Biker Bar

Rock Rest Lodge has been a staple in Golden, Colorado for many years, and its location at 16005 Mt. Vernon Road has a plethora of tall tales attached to it.

In addition, the famous biker bar is allegedly haunted by the spirit of a woman whose last night at the bar proved to be a little too crazy.

According to legend, Rock Rest Lodge is haunted by the ghost of Molly Barton, a woman who was employed at a nearby brothel and lived at the bar in the 1920s. The story goes that Molly's undergarments were thrown onto a taxidermied moose and while attempting to get them back, the moose's head fell on her, taking her life.

The moose head is just one of many odd decorations you'll find at the Rock Rest Lodge as much like the world-famous Dark Horse in Boulder, nearly every wall and ceiling is adorned with things like taxidermy, old portraits, sculptures, and even a motorcycle or two.

The Rock Rest Lodge is so popular with bikers that it's not uncommon to share the road with plenty of Harleys while on the way to a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, which is located close by.
