A popular downtown Sioux Falls restaurant that has endured a lengthy closure and financial struggles recently is hoping that less is more moving forward.

The owners of Swamp Daddy's Cajun Kitchen are looking to downsize their location in the Jones 421 Building on North Phillips Avenue.

The Plan

The establishment is looking for someone to take over 1,115 square feet of space, which currently serves as the restaurant's bar area, directly across from the dining room in a different suite.

Rent would be $2,751 per month.

The attempt to downsize comes six months after Swamp Daddy's issued an urgent plea to area diners for more traffic to keep their doors open.

Outpouring of support

Since the post hit social media, fans of the restaurant responded with an outpouring of support, which translated into an uptick of business in the dining room.

Dealing With Adversity

Back in January of 2024, the restaurant was forced to close for eight months after a glycol leak caused by an HVAC company hitting a pipe while moving a furnace one floor above the restaurant, forcing a major clean-up and renovation project.

The restaurant rebounded from that setback and reopened last August.

Swamp Daddy's is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11:00 AM to  9:00 PM.
